The Story Bridge Hotel, Brisbane was born in 1886. Originally it was known as Kangaroo Point Hotel. In 1940 the name was changed to Story Bridge Hotel. The hotel is the home to some of Australia's greatest special events, The Australia Day Cockroach Races and The National Festival of Beers. In 2003 it was planned to renovate the hotel to bring it into the 21st century. In October 2003, the renovation of The Story Bridge Hotel Brisbane was complete and the hotel reopened with a fresh, new image with three new dining areas, a contemporary bar and an 'urban beer garden' - 'The Outback Bar & Grill.
